The establishment of Siddhartha Academy of General & Technical Education in 1975 was the beginning for a miraculous transformation of this region, which was hitherto educational Sahara into an educational Nayagara. Siddhartha Academy is a highly motivated team of widely known `professionals’ with a shared vision and who have understood the dynamics of change in the field of education and have responded proactively. In its long journey of thirty six years, the Academy started sixteen educational institutions to its credit. It was also entrusted with the Management of two more institutions at Vuyyuru, a nearby town. “If a man is educated he alone will be educated. If a woman is educated the whole family will be educated” Siddhartha Academy of General & Technical Education strongly believed in the statement. To promote women’s education in general and to provide quality education in particular the Academy started Sri Durga Malleswara Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala – Degree College in the year 1983. The college was named after the presiding deities of the city – Goddess Durga and Lord Malleswara. The college is spread over an area of 8.22 acres. It is located at the heart of the city and is very close to the main road. Though the college is situated in a residential area, authorities have maintained it in such a way that the environment is pollution free. The college building is a four-storied U – shaped building with 82 classrooms. It houses laboratories, faculty rooms, administrative office and physical fitness centre. Playgrounds are also in the same premises. Water cooler facilities, exhaust fans, elevator, vehicle parking space for the staff and the students, a seminar hall with a seating capacity of 400 people, separate room for Audio-Visual teaching, Indoor Stadium and there are two hostels on the campus. The infrastructure caters to the requirements of the students. The college garden is beautiful and well maintained. Its achievement in accordance with its ambition about women’s education is a dream come true. The college attained autonomous status during the academic year 2003-04. Two P.G courses M.Com & M.Sc (Mathematics) were also started from the same year. Introduction of Choice Based Credit System and Grading System from the academic year i.e., 2005 – 06 is another feather added to its cap. Ours is the first Women’s College in Acharya Nagarjuna University area to introduce Choice Based Credit System and Grading System. The college follows semester system and conducts a good number of Guest Lectures, Workshops & Seminars for the benefit of the students. NAAC Re-Accreditation – The College was re-accredited at ‘A’ grade during 2013. The college has established a good tradition of excellent academic discipline and received all the encouragement from its philanthropic group of members of the management. All these 30 years of its fruitful existence the college has been working dedicatedly and relentlessly to mould the girl students into knowledgeable, resourceful, creative and successful members of the society. With systematic imparting of knowledge through various academic and co-academic activities, the college has been striving hard to rise to the standards and expectations of the society.

It is a location where one can create, collect, update and manage files. Information Science:- Information science is a field primarily concerned with the analysis, collection, classification, storage, dissemination and protection of information in the field of study for application and usage of knowledge. Library information Centre is user friendly. It provides exhaustive information to meet the intellectual requirements of faculty and students. The conducive environment of the library facilitates uninterrupted reading. Multiple resources are available in reference and stock sections. SDMSM Kalasala college which was established in the year 1983 encourages ideal atmosphere in the library so that every student can utilize the abundant resources. At present the library stocks 49,087 volumes, 101 journals/magazines, standard textbooks, Reference books, books on Career Guidance, Personality Development, Competitive Exams, Encyclopedias, Rare books, Dictionaries, Women studies, Back volumes, Special reports, Special references, yearbooks etc. The open access system ensures that no student is likely to be handicapped for want of reference material at any time. The Library maintains 15 systems, including server for providing free internet access to the students and has Integrated Library Management Software.
